Description
Begin your Buildarmy tank-building journey with our Panzer III, the perfect starter set for anyone new to the sophisticated tank models in Lego compatible bricks. This 755-piece kit is designed for ease of assembly with clear, concise instructions, making it the ideal entry point. At dimensions of 15.8cm long, 8.8cm wide, and 11.7cm high, it not only serves as an impressive display piece but also introduces builders to the engineering behind historical tanks. Its working suspension adds a dynamic element, allowing the model to handle different terrains, much like the real tanks once did. Whether for educational purposes, display, or wargaming, the Panzer III is a fantastic way to ignite a passion for history and mechanics.
A Brief History of Panzer III Tanks
The Panzer III was the first German medium tank developed in 1930s. It was originally designed to fight enemy tanks and serve alongside the similar Panzer IV, which was bigger and initially conceived as infantry support tank. About 100 Panzer IIIs were used in the invasion of Poland and about 350 in the French campaign. The Panzer IIIs were the best tanks at the period of time. However, after the invasion of Soviet, the Panzer III was outclassed by the formidable T-34 and its small turret ring limited its potential to be mounted with more powerful anti-tank guns. It eventually swapped roles with the Panzer IV and became a infantry support tank since the Panzer IV was upgraded to the long-barrelled 7.5 cm KwK 40 gun and better armored.

The Panzer IIIs saw actions in the invasion of Poland, the battle of France, Operation Barbarossa and the Battle of Kursk in the Soviet Union, and the North African campaigns. Many were still in combat service against Western Allied forces in 1944-1945: at Anzio in Italy, in Normandy, and in Operation Market Garden in the Netherlands. Even after the cease of production, the Panzer III’s sturdy, reliable and long-lasting chassis formed the basis for one of the most successful self-propelled guns of the Second World War, the Sturmgeschütz III (StuG III) tank destroyer. Among the variants of Panzer III from A to N, Ausf. J was the most produced, with around 1521 units been produced in 1941 and 1942.

Great set! My only question is does this tank come with infantry? I have seen other reviews saying that it came with soldiers however when I received the package it came with no figures

The Panzer III is a humble little build (pictured next to the Panzer IV and Tiger I), but that does not take away from the fact that this is a great set! Of all the builds I’ve done, the Panzer III was by far the easiest. Having the instructions available as a PDF is a really nice feature that I especially enjoyed this time around. The build itself was very comprehensive; track system came together easy, and there are no delicate “hinged” parts on this one either. My favorite feature is definitely the turret. The fact that you can fit a FULL mini figure in the turret is a massive plus for me, not to mention a pleasant surprise considering the majority of Buildarmys set do not allow for this. I would strongly recommend this build for beginnings. Looks great on display and for play. 11/10!

A reproduction that is really close to the original, the quality of the bricks is really high and the instructions are easy to understand.
I will definitely take other models to expand the collection!

I am realy happy with this panzer

Very good construction and the best that I´ve seen so far made of bricks! I like early wwii tanks and vehicles and the panzer iii is one of my favorit. The tank can also be converted into later, more powerful versions like Ausf. L, M, N or Befehlspanzer…

Thanks for the photos! (Just to clarify that in these photos the buyer has modified the turret and added some extra features to the body.)

Overall a great kit to build, easy to follow instructions. Only complaint is that the included infantry came with late war weapons on an early war tank. Will be buying more kits in the future!

I thought this was going to be a relatively quick and simple kit to complete. It turned out to be much more complex than I imagined! But I wouldn’t say it was difficult to build. The instructions were pretty clear. I didn’t mind that the instruction were pdf files. In fact, I think it might be easier to work with than paper instructions. Some comments on the build:
1. As built the tracks do not move smoothly. I fixed this by filing down the ridges on the axles for the drive sprocket and idler wheels.
2. I would like the commander’s cupola to open more accurately. But perhaps this might be difficult to achieve?
3. The main gun does not elevate or depress. Perhaps this can be improved in the future?
4. Co-axial and bow MG is not good looking. Perhaps this can be improved in the future?
That all said, once completed, the end result is a very solid and good looking Panzer III. Great price too.
Highly recommended.

Really appreciate your comment! the second version of Panzer III is coming soon which will cover those revisions you mentioned. For example, in the version 2, the commander’s cupola is open from the middle; the barrel can move up and down; the friction of the wheel axles is removed and the wheel can rotate smoothly.

What can I say. It was a great set. I enjoyed building it, and the pieces were of high quality and very compatible with normal Lego bricks.
Only complaint was there was a causality, one of the german soldier mini figures head was crushed. But I fell that was a problem with shipping.
Altogether, amazing product.
admin –
Hi Cody,
Sorry about the crushed head. Please remind us about it at your next order and we will include a new one with it.
Cheers,

The Panzer III was easier to build than some other tanks but was still moderate in difficulty. Good quality bricks, a nice product. Would recommend to anybody to add to their collection.

very good product but the way of use – is not very clear

Thanks I’ll try to simplify the building steps.
Johnny (verified owner) –
I spend 1st 2 hours building it. But come to a fail. I have to rebuild it again. Once i rebuild it, i spend another 4 hours 40 min building it. Total took me 6 hours 40 min to build it. To be honest that its is Not an easy task to me. Sad to say when i completed build it, my tank track cant move. Instruction manual next time has to be More Clear.
admin –
Hi Johnny,
Thanks for your comment. Could you please point out which steps that puzzled you the most? I’ll try to simplify them. Regarding the track’s movement, it’s because the cross-axle used (corresponding to Lego part 18651) has friction ridges. Sadly that’s the only connector which has 2 unit cross axle. I’ll try to modify it for Panzer3 version 2.
