Description
Step up to the challenge with our King Tiger tank model, an advanced kit designed for those who delight in detail and precision. This impressive 1145-piece set is the largest creation in our WW2 tank series. It authentically replicates the legendary King Tiger at a 1:33 scale, meticulously showcasing its massive structure and formidable armour. The King Tiger measures an imposing 22.5cm long, 11.5cm wide, and 10cm high, capturing the impressive dimensions and intricate details of the historical tank. The model features various slopes on the turret, requiring careful adjustment and assembly to achieve a better result, thus providing an engaging challenge for even the most skilled builders.
Like other Buildarmy tanks, this kit also boasts a modular design allowing for detailed exploration of the interior, including the engine, transmission, and crew seating. The functioning suspension system allows the side wheels to move up-and-down when the tank is driven through obstacle, making it a playable masterpiece.
With its accurate and detailed representation, the King Tiger stands as a centerpiece worthy of any home display. It is not just a model, but a stunning piece of historical art that attracts attention and sparks conversation.
A Brief History of King Tiger Tanks
The Tiger II, officially designated as Panzerkampfwagen Tiger Ausf. B, was also known under the informal name Königstiger, which was incorrectly translated as King Tiger by Allied soldiers. It was the largest and heaviest operational tank fielded by the German Army in WW2.
Developed as a replacement for the Tiger I from 1941, its role was to be the heavy tank capable of breaking through the enemy line. The tank weighed almost 70 tonnes, and was protected by 100 to 185 mm (3.9 to 7.3 in) of armour to the front. It combined the thick armour of the Tiger 1 with the armour sloping used on the Panther medium tank, and was armed with a devastating long barrelled 8.8 cm KwK 43 L/71 anti-tank cannon. Those combination earned it a formidable reputation on the battlefield.
The Tiger II was issued to heavy tank battalions of the Army and the Waffen-SS. In 1944 it was first used in combat by 503rd Heavy Panzer Battalion against the Allied invasion of Normandy and by the 501st Heavy Panzer Battalion to resist the Lvov–Sandomierz Offensive on the Eastern Front. However, the beast entered the war too late and it became a burden on the overstretched German supplies and logistics. The tanks often could not get into position for lack of spares or fuel and, when crippled, often could not be recovered. As a result, more Tiger IIs were destroyed by their own crews than by the Allies. From 1942 to 1944, 492 Tiger IIs were built in total.

Great build, the detail is outstanding, especially given the size and that it isn’t a modelling kit. The only complaint and it isn’t the end of the world by any means, is the bags are numbered but you aren’t going to build it in that order. That is ok but you do have to empty them all and sort as you will take bits from each bag as you go along. If you don’t sort all the pieces, all 1100+ of them, you will spend much of the estimated build time looking for a tiny piece hidden somewhere. It’s why Lego batches the builds by bag, helps you stop at certain points and reduces the sorting. It’s a tiny complaint and in no way detracts from the build which, is deeply impressive.

Very nice set, I’m extremely happy with how it turned out will be back to purchase more😊

Challenging build, historically accurate and super cool! Would definitely recommend for any WW2 nerds in your life!

Love this model – as accurate as you can get in this medium. I would heartily recommend these models to anybody with a true interest in accurate representation of these vehicles.

An amazing build even if parts it are a bit fiddly. It’s a great show piece to have in my room and I hope to buy more soon 😊

Are the tracks fixed in this 2nd version?
In my previous build the track grinds against the skirts and in reverse catches on it and prevents it from rolling.
The clearance is a bit too tight.
Buildarmy (store manager) –
Hi Hugo,
The space for the tracks was improved a bit. But you still need to roll it on rough surface.

The set is good, as good as German engineering! Although I feel the bricks and the parts have very tight fitting, which could make disassembling slightly difficult later. The gun should not be too easy to remove and the side skirts are flimsy to fit on.
Overall, I highly recommend this set because Tiger II is a beast!

My first purchase and an amazing build! It looks so good.
Instructions were good enough, I only messed up once with a single piece. (A 1/1 round piece was placed under another 1/1 round flat piece which I didn’t notice in time)
Love the look and feel, but the tank track catches the skirt a lot. I might modify it with a 1×2 inverted slope brick.

Another impressive work from Dr. Zhang. The attention to detail is unmatched, and was incredibly fun to put together. An amazing piece in my cabinet. I cannot recommend it enough.

First order from build army and I am very happily suprised, the final product looks great and was very fun to build as it is a bit more complicated than a usual lego build.
Only problem I had was with the canon barrel, somme pieces are a little to thin for the stick to go through so I had to improvise, but appart from that 10/10 would recommend + you can play with it afterwards, simulating hull brieches etc.

Some of the sections are very fragile and the rubber hosing diameters were incompatable with the rest of the build but after a few adjustments the set is very nice
Buildarmy (store manager) –
Hi I’m not sure what you mean that the rubber hose was incompatible with the rest of the building. Could you upload an photo so we can help solve the issue? Thanks.

the construction of the barrel is a bit difficult and requires a lot of pressure to get the rings to fit and the piece can then snap. This happened for me but i had a back up piece.
Michał (verified owner) –
Very fine product, sometimes a little bit hard to put tails together, but overall it was fun to put together.

This was my fist order form buildarmy and it was excellent, I had no missing pieces or complications. Will have to buy more kits soon
ANDREW (verified owner) –

Great instructions and decent bricks the instructions looked great but still had some errors. Not Minifigure compatible
admin –
Hi could you please let us know what the errors are?
Bo-Ming (verified owner) –
This King Tiger is probably one of the best tanks to put on display.
Zak Nicholls (verified owner) –
Great build, turret could be improvised for easier assembly but no more complaints. Great work build army team

Loved this build. definitely more difficult than the panzer 4 or the tiger 1. Well worth it though. Frustrating at times, but the end result felt more “solid” than the other two. Panzer 4 was the most delicate of the three. Had a couple missing pieces, and some that straight up didnt fit. I was saved by having left overs from other models.

Excellent quality, great design, overall really satisfied with the model. My only improvements would be to the track skirts as sometimes they catch on the tracks, preventing them from moving but aside from that prefect. Thank you.
Terrell Fair (verified owner) –
The Tracks are a little stiff to move but after a modified side skirt it works fine

I think this tank is the one that I enjoyed the most. One or two pieces were missing but I could find them in my spare bricks. The design is amazing and the price is fair compared to it’s size. Really enjoy building all of those tanks and also the Churchill Mk.IV 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Also could you make a German rifle team where they have STG44’s?
Jack –
Could you add a MG42

All parts available and very good building instructions. The tank is built in great detail, the shape very well. The most beautiful tank that I have in my collection !! However, it is a challenging setup but it always works.
Samuel Walfridsson (verified owner) –
Absolutly love it!
Jordan (verified owner) –
I love the king tiger, just an amazing looking tank and the details, angles etc. have been captured really well. However due to the accurate design the integrity of the kit is not 100% which brings the playability down but for display purposes and moc builders this is a must. Great work buildarmy.
thomas r. (verified owner) –
Very good I am 13 and it took me 4h to build am very pleased 🙂
Ryley –
Fantastic, looks great next to my Panzer III. There’s a lot of detail and care and it really shows. It feels and sits “heavy” which is exactly as you expect from the Tiger II.
Some ideas for improvement with regard to the instructions:
a) Sometimes it’s hard to tell which straight pole length to use (particularly in the track assemblies). Noting “4 units long” etc would be really helpful.
b) The small pivot pieces used on the front light and the rear upper flank assemblies were square-edged, not rounded as shown in the instructions.
c) One of the steps in the barrel construction is backwards.
Not negatives by any means – I was totally addicted to building this one all weekend and can’t stop looking at it, it’s brilliant and looks like a real beast 🙂

Thank you for your comment! I’ll look into those you mentioned.

This tank is huge and so well designed, all slopers and details are accounted for. I do have one point that needs some attention, the turret is a little weak.
Alessandro (verified owner) –
Ottimo prodotto, facile da montare. Molto precisi nella spedizione e nel supporto
