Description

Need more firepower for your allied brick army? Look no further than our Easy 8 tank model kit, a faithful replica of the advanced M4A3E8 variant of the Sherman tank that played a crucial role in the closing stages of World War II. Known for its enhanced armour, superior firepower, and exceptional mobility, the Easy 8 was instrumental in the Allied forces’ push across Europe. This model not only maintains accurate proportions like other Buildarmy kits but also features a detailed representation of the horizontal volute spring suspension (HVSS) system. With wider tracks designed to distribute weight more effectively and provide a smoother ride, the HVSS earned the tank its nickname “Easy 8” from its experimental “E8” designation.

Built upon the model of the M4 Sherman, this kit includes a detailed interior with seats, transmission, and engine compartment, accessible via a user-friendly modular design. Builders can remove part of the hull to see the internal mechanics, enhancing the educational value of the assembly. Accompanied by a coloured building instruction that starts with a brief history and photos of the tank, this sturdy kit offers a compelling building experience. The final assembled model is an aesthetic piece of art that attracts attention, whether it is displayed on a shelf or a table.

A Brief History of M4A3E8 Sherman tanks

The M4A3E8 Sherman, commonly known as the “Easy Eight,” is a famous variant of the M4 Sherman tank. It had a redesigned turret with more potent 76mm M1 main gun, 47 degree sloped front armour and full up-armoured sides. Beginning in August 1944, the M4A3 model was the first to be factory-produced with the horizontal volute spring suspension (HVSS) system with wider tracks to distribute weight. With the smooth ride of the HVSS, it gained the nickname “Easy Eight” from its experimental “E8” designation. From March 1944 to April 1945, a total of 4542 units were produced. It has played a vital role in the later stages of World War II, where it was utilized by American and Allied forces. It continued to serve in various conflicts and military operations worldwide, leaving an enduring mark in the annals of armoured warfare history as a versatile and effective medium tank.

Thank you for the feedback. Just to clarify that your photos show the old version of the Easy 8. We have upgraded the tank and the newest version is shown in the product images.

I would give it a 5 but I had some issues with the tracks which it wasn’t functioning properly so I gave it a 4 even though nice set.

Altogether a very good product. It also arrived very promptly and the price-to-product ratio is ok, but a few parts were in the wrong color but that’s ok because you only spot them on closer inspection.

I enjoyed the kit in general and the finished piece is a great rendition of the real life vehicle, I would say that some pieces were missing such as 1 by 1 green blocks in which i used different parts to replace them. Theres also a sizable gap in the back turret whete it slopes upwards but isnt to much of a big deal.

This Sherman is one of my favorite sets on my shelf right now. The details are solid and the build is really sturdy. The included Browning for the turret looks great and the wheel bed is especially well designed. I will note here: the track system is absolutely terrible. On the majority of Buildarmys sets, the track system is generally pretty comprehensible. Not too difficult to put together, and somewhat functional. However, for this tank, getting the tracks onto the Sherman required a significant amount of deconstruction as the system was built up of two strips of treads on both sides. Getting them into place was infuriating, and keeping them in place was/is equally maddening. That being said, this really is a good looking tank. Gives off a lot of “Fury” vibes if you’ve seen the movie, and looks great accompanied by some generic WW2 soldiers. 8/10!

love this one, highly detailed and solid model. looks amazing in my collection

  28. Nils (verified owner)

As people above already said great display model for a more than fair price

The instructions had sometimes parts in the wrong color
Sadly the tracks are almost impossible too move (irrelevant for display)

For the Easy Eight but putting it together was rather time consuming because of the tracks but it worth it in the end.

Ik heb er nu 3. Maar zal zeker niet de laatsten zijn. Vind ze prachtig

Good little kit, only random thing was it came with a Vickers machine gun instead of a Browning !

Hi sorry it must be a mistake during packing!

  33. David B. (verified owner)

    The pros:
Fair price for a damn good looking tank! Building was easy and smooth. The stickers were easy to apply and hold perfectly. A unique building technique for the turret makes it smoothly rotatable and was easy to build. The bricks hold solid, which is good for a display model.
Shipping was tracked and arrived in Germany after circa one week

    The cons:
-Hatches sometimes hard to open without disassembling bricks
-tracks barely move because of friction
(If you display the tank those are no relevant problems anymore)
-In the instructions bricks sometimes have different colours than irl (most inside tank so no problem)

-> all in all a great Sherman with barely any problems and way cheaper than for example a brickmania model! Good job!

    (4,5 out of 5 stars)

It was awsome but many parts was missing and in wrong colour

    • admin

Hi sorry to hear that. In many cases the “missing” parts were found later as we provide many spare pieces. If there’s no luck, please send the list of missing parts to [email protected]. Regarding the colours, pieces underneath the surface of the tank can be grey or green; please let us know if there’s wrong colour on the surface.

      Cheers,
      Ruibin

I love this tank. I received it as a christmas gift from my parents and it showed up in the mail yesterday. I no have a king tiger v2, Sherman, And the easy 8 Sherman. I will soon be working towards getting a whole column of tanks. I love decking them out with all kinds of extra boxes and other things. Thanks for such a great kit.

    Awesome set!
Too bad the Sherman (other Sherman) doesn’t have these sides of the Easy 8.

  42. Jonathan B. (verified owner)

Loved this build! Much sturdier on the rear half for the slanted armor than the original sherman (still a great build! just more difficult). One of the best turret designs so far. still would like to see single wide tracks on their models, but the double wide still looks great if aligned.

I do really like this kit and some others you have created in meantime. They are great designs in capturing detailings and the size.
My recommendation will be for designing usable hatches, Where you can sticking in a mini fig.
Mostly its is possible with just a few modifications at your builds.

Thanks for the nice photos! Yes the usable hatches are possible but in compromise of a few interior details.
