Looks fantastic! The dark wizardry of the working suspension continues. How is this physically possible!? Even after building it, I don’t quite understand. A few small issues: 1) The turret doesn’t rotate freely, it catches on the driver’s periscopes. 2) The main gun is somewhat “saggy”, both in its own structure and in its elevation mechanism, which doesn’t quite manage to support the gun. 3) Similarly, the .30 Brownings used for the CROWS and the loader’s MG are essentially freely-rotating in their pintle mounts . All solvable though. I’ll probably just remove the driver’s vision blocks for 1). And I’ll need to experiment with ways to increase the friction for 2) and 3). Did I mention that it looks fantastic?

Hi Edward,
Thank you for the feedback. Regarding 2), please check if you have mistakenly used the pin without friction ridges (lego No. 3673) for the barrel instead of the pins with friction ridges (No.4459). The barrel should be strong and solid with the latter in place.

This is probably one of the best looking models I have bought so far from you guys. My one critique is that it is WAY too fragile.
While your sets are for display and not play, I do quite enjoy taking it off the shelf and taking a look around. I feel that it could use some more support in the top front of the turret. As there is only 1 connection point of support to the actual turret. Either give it more support, or make it easier to piece back together.
but visually, it’s stunning the chassis perfectly captures the slopes of the M1 and I apricated how the 2 front panels are asymmetrical, which both frustrates me and satisfies me.
But the only thing stopping this from being a 5/5, is the lack of nosy cousin proofing. As from a scale of 1-10 on sturdiness, 10 being the M4 Sherman, it gets a 4. But thanks for all the models you have made. I have roughly 15 of them, RIP my wallet.

This is the first model I’ve gotten from you guys and it didn’t disappoint

You did an excellent job assembling it, especially since it’s not our easiest kit!

Dear Build-Army Team,
I really took a few days off after completing the build to give as fair a review as possible based on my criteria & experience.
The good things first: Thank you very much for the uncomplicated purchase process in the webshop and the very fast delivery. The packaging of the parts in the individual bags is sensibly designed so that you can quickly find your way around during construction and quickly have the right type and therefore the right brick to hand. The printed instructions provide a very good overview of the building steps. The building steps make sense and there are only 2 steps where I would like to see a better illustration. The angles on the vehicle are very well represented and are largely secure. The depiction of the retaining baskets on the side of the turret is successful. The color scheme is well designed. I love this green the most. It is the perfect color for military vehicles.
Critique: I’m not sure if I’m disappointed or not. Basically, the model is solid, but it doesn’t come close to the perfection of the Leopard 2 A6 from Build Army. Basically, it is not possible to run the tracks because the wheels touch each other and thus completely block. Ok – it’s a showcase model, but the mobility is a big attraction. I am disappointed by the hatches. Other models on the market almost always offer space to put a minifigure inside. The left hatch is blocked by the machine gun, the right hatch is so angled in the interior that you can’t even place a torso with a brick. Another disappointment is the complete lack of interior design in the turret and the very rudimentary design of the driver’s compartment. There are much better models on the market, especially in the turret area. I expected more here. The cannon can be tilted, but it lacks support. It also bothers me that the instructions do not show how the barrel can be strengthened. Sorry, but in the end I had to resort to adhesive tape to tighten the plug-in connection so that the cannon is stiff and not floppy. I think the depiction of the gas turbines is coherent and detailed. I like that. Unfortunately, however, the engine compartment is only accessible through two flaps at the rear and you can’t really see anything. The machine gun unit with optronics rattles and hangs askew. Here, too, adhesive tape would probably be appropriate on the plug connection. The turret does not rotate smoothly and catches quickly. Not so nice.
Conclusion: The reason for giving 3 instead of 4 stars for this model is that it is basically not drivable and has no representation of the interior in the turret, as well as the model has disturbing weaknesses in detail. I would have expected a further development here, as can be seen on the market for military models.
One final note: I can’t see any noticeable difference between the 1:33 and 1:35 scales. Putting the Leopard and Abrams side by side results in realistic scales.
Still, thank you very much for the job done by the Build Army team. I am hoping for an upgrade of this modell to provide the same perfection as the Leopard delivers.

Hi Nicky,
Thank you so much for your feedback. Here are some clarifications in response to your points:
1. The tightness of the tracks: this definitely can be improved as the 2L pin we used for the rear wheel has fiction. We’ll find the one without fiction to replace it.
2. The lack of interior in the turret and driver’s compartment: our model focuses on achieving highly accurate external shapes and slopes of the turret. This design choice, aimed at maintaining stability and accuracy, unfortunately limits the space available for a detailed interior.
3. We have test-built the model and the barrel is very stable which does not need adhesive tape. It’s possible there was a mix-up in assembly; please ensure that the pin with friction (not the frictionless one) is used inside the barrel. The remote-controlled machine gun is stable too.
4. The accessibility of the engine compartment: yes, this is something we can improve.

Updates:
1. The friction around the rear wheels were removed but there could still be friction caused by the side armour plate.
2. The whole surface over the engine compartment can actually be detached easily to reveal the interior.
